Product Description

Logitech Z-2300 2.1 Speaker System
Hear your movies, music and games for the first time.

Great sound. It's all in the details. This powerful speaker system brings them out in high-clarity THX-certified sound. From the fat bass thumps in your favorite rock anthem to the creepy hallway steps in your favorite horror film, you'll hear details you never knew were there. Add to that an impressive 200 watts of RMS power and you've got everything you need to rock your entertainment world.

Key Features

Genuine THX-certified audio quality
Once you hear these speakers, you'll know why they're among the few that have earned the THX seal of approval. THX certification is the ultimate mark of audio quality and your assurance of a studio-quality listening experience.

200 watts of bold, powerful sound
Hear and feel the music with more than enough power to rock the room. Go ahead and turn it up. The speakers are built to deliver clear, detailed, distortion-free sound—even at window-rattling volume.

Phase-plug drivers for more accurate sound reproduction
From the soaring high note in a guitar solo to the loud burst of jet engines in an action movie, Logitech Phase Plug drivers make sure you don't miss a sound. A cone-shaped aluminum Phase Plug at the center of the driver helps to accurately reproduce high- and mid-range frequencies with less coloration than standard drivers. And because the Phase Plug acts as a heat sink, the driver is better able to preserve dynamic range. So you hear the quiet of a whisper and the loud, full force of an explosion. The Phase Plug even acts as a reflector, creating a much wider sweet spot of mid to high frequencies compared to conventional speaker designs. The bottom line? The true sonic signature of your movies, music and games comes through loud and clear.

Long-throw subwoofer for rich, room-filling bass
Intensify your movie, music and gaming experience with distortion-free bass that goes extra deep. The powerful 8-inch, 120 watt driver reproduces the wide range of low frequencies that deliver room-shaking rumbles and rich, tight bass notes. And with Logitech's flared side port, the port noise that can occur with subwoofers is eliminated.

It's big, bold bass without the distractions.

SoundTouch™ remote for easy control
You have complete control over your listening experience with this sleek wired remote. Control master volume, subwoofer level and power. There's even a headphone jack for private listening.

Audio adapter for quick device connections
The system comes complete with a handy adapter that lets you easily connect the speakers directly to your game console, DVD player or CD player.

    Summary: Do not buy!
    Comment:
Influenced by the good reviews at that time I bought the speaker set in August of 2006, type tag says: Made in China. The warranty expired in 2007.
My acoutic impression has been that the subwoofer produces too much
    soft bass.
Since a couple of days the right channel is continously sizzling. It is impossible to listen without getting crazy after some time. I know from previous experience with TDK 2.1 speakers that this is caused by bad capacitors in the amplifier. I contacted Logitech Customer Support. They told me that there is neither a repair facility in the whole USA nor any broken part can be replaced even if I would decide to replace the amplifier myself. That means that anything produced by Logitech that shows any technical problems after the manufacturer's warranty has expired is considered trash and only can be thrown into the waste bin. This is the end of my Logitech confidence trail!

    Summary: Shaking Walls
    Comment:
These speakers are great if you like big sound. The Bass is really punchy and will shake the walls if you have the volume up past about half. It would be nice if the crossover was a bit higher but the overall system performs very well. I would recommend this speaker set for anyone who is looking for a good 2.1 speaker system for anything that plugs in with a 3.5 mm jack.

What can I say? Speakers that will shake your house, and ultra crisp sound quality.

Summary: Best Speakers even over 5.1 and 7.1 systems
    Comment:
Maybe I am exagerating but these are the best speakers. I had these before and my house was robbed and they were stolen. I decided to shop around to "upgrade" my surround system because I primarily use it for watching movies and listening to music. I figured if I was going to replace stolen goods I would at least one up it. I looked at 5.1 and 7.1 systems and at the end of a week long search nothing compared to my Logitech 2.1 system. The sound is great. I have never even turned these things up more than half way because they carry so much sound and base. They make watching movies amazing. I always get comments on how good the speakers sound. I also love how they are fairly small and easy to move. Very mobile. The other nice thing is that since they are PC speakers they can be plugged into any device (iPod, mp3 player,, etc) or really any device with a headphone jack. Great speakers. I have held out and scored these for $100 bucks each time. Even at $125-$150 it is a great deal. My only beef is that they have a wired controler. If these things had a wireless remote they would be perfect.

    Summary: Sounds FANTASTIC to me
    Comment:
Seriously, this is all you need for a sound system. Getting anything better than this just isn't worth the money and the hassle and I honestly don't believe human ears can detect higher fidelity than this system is able to deliver. As for 5.1 surround sound -- I have that out in my living room -- a system that cost me $220 or so. The bass is nowhere near as good as the base on this system and the "bullets whizzing by your ear" effects are just not what ultimately make a movie worth watching, especially when the trade off is inferior overall sound quality. The downside of that system is that those extra speakers, extra wires, extra places to put the speakers, etc just makes your life that much more complex.

This is one of those times when $150 is definitely worth it -- you shouldn't have to worry about computer speakers again for about twenty years.

As for those who are complaining about the mid-range... give me a break. I can assure you that I can hear the mid-range voices, music, effects, etc just fine and they sound fantastic. If you really want to masturbate over some measurements that only robotic ears are able to detect, then I guess you should look elsewhere and spend an extra $500 or something.

NOTE: The subwoofer is large and needs to be placed with some space around it, so you will need about a 2-foot x 2-foot floor space to place it in. You can put something on top of it -- a potted plant or a printer or something like that.
